Have you ever heard of a supercar as part of a police cruiser fleet? Well, this may come as a surprise, but it's actually quite common, and turbocharged supercars with their raucous engines have a long history of being driven by law enforcement in various countries.

And, most recently, this trend was implemented by the nation of Dubai, where the police force has announced that it's decided to add none other than the Lamborghini Aventador to its fleet.

The new Lamborghini model comes as quite an upgrade to the current brood of autos which includes a muscle offering from a well-known American nameplate.

As we've mentioned before, the Aventador is a 700 horsepower model which doesn't top out until it reaches up to 217 miles per hour and the starting price, in the U.S., for the model is $400,000. And, while the Aventador's 3.9 second zero-to-sixty sprint would give any criminal a run for his or her money, the Lamborghini model will actually just be used in tourist areas as an impressive mark for foreign visitors.

The police force announced the addition of the Aventador to its fleet, via twitter, saying, "Latest #Dubai_Police patrols, now at your service,"1 next to an image of the newly adorned Lamborghini police cruiser sitting outside the largest shopping center in the world, the Dubai Mall.

This isn't the first time a Lamborghini model has been employed to help out on a police force. In fact, the most well-known example is the Gallardo LP560-4 that was used in Lamborghini's hope country, Italy, as part of their state police force. A version of the blue-and-white model has even been made into a Leggo set.

If you want information about either the Aventador or Gallardo (in their non-police cruiser form) we encourage you to contact Lamborghini Dallas either online or at our convenient location of 601 South Central Expressway Richardson, TX 75080.
