Avid Lamborghini enthusiasts may remember a while back when Lamborghini confirmed production of the all-new Sesto Elemento with only 20 examples of the track-only auto planned. Well, since then, there has been very little information available about the new model. Well, until now.
That's because we're finally starting to hear some details. In fact, the well-known publication, Auto Visie recently had the chance to interview Director of research and development at Lamborghini, Maurizio Reggiani, who not only confirmed the production of the Sesto Elemento, but also a few details, including: engine choice and production carryover details.
Specifically, it was noted that the Sesto Elemento will share the same powerplant construct as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera: a raucous V10 capable of pumping out 570 ponies, with an all-wheel drive system. What's more, the exclusive model will be built at a new factory dedicated primarily to the production of prototypes and limited-edition cars like this one.
A report states that the curb weight for the Sesto Elemento will be 2,200 pounds and it will be able to reach top speeds of 320 kilometers per hour which is equivalent to 198 miles per hour, with a 0-62 sprint of just 2.5 seconds. Reggiani also confirmed that the production version will be almost identical to that seen in concept form at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
Estimated pricing for the Sesto Elemento is around two million euros which amounts to around $2.6 million, U.S. The production date is set for early 2013, but Motor Authority is predicting at least another year or two to see the car out and about.
