If you are a supercar enthusiast like everyone on our staff here at Lamborghini Dallas, then you understand how important carbon fiber has become in the fabrication process of virtually all new sports cars that enter the market. Lamborghini has a long history with this material, and was one of the first automakers to discover the potential of using it in the production of new Lamborghini models.

For those who don't know, carbon fiber is a high-strength, low-weight material that is made of pure carbon atoms bonded together with crystals. With a single strand being less than half the size of a human hair, this material has unique properties that make it perfect for use in everything from aerospace design, to civil engineering, to motorsports. Carbon fiber has a very high heat tolerance as well as a high chemical resistance.

In an industry like ours where you live and die by the power to weight ratio of your vehicles, it is very important to use the lightest and strongest materials available, and since 1983, the designers at Lamborghini have been finding a use for this composite. The first time it was put to use was in a prototype of the legendary Lamborghini Countach to form the cabin. Thirty years later, we find models like the new Aventador have become the only vehicles in existence with a full carbon fiber monocoque, and Lamborghini is the only company to produce those pieces in-house.

Our favorite Italian supercar manufacturer has said that it will continue to invest in carbon fiber technology into the foreseeable future as the company strives to make all of its products faster, stronger and lighter.
